During those 4 years Mummy Bloggers have become more and more prolific. Thanks to the rise of t'internet, it seems everyone's a potential author these days. (And trust me.
Long time readers of this blog will be well versed in my loathing for the word 'Mummy', most particularly when coupled with the word 'Blogger'. Labelling at its very, very worst. Since starting work on this blog I have always proudly proclaimed my fear and loathing of all things 'Mummy Blog', and done my very best to ensure this blog sails firmly in the opposite direction. Mostly by swearing a lot, mentioning my front bottom in every other sentence. That kind of thing.
Alas, I know in my heart of hearts that I am deluding myself. By virtue of the two heads which emerged from said front bottom (see? Told you) and my committing of these words to screen... I too am, apparently, a Mummy Blogger.
What I do think is after 4 years as a 'Mummy Blogger' (it feels a little bit less painful if I put it into inverted commas) I have a pretty good idea of what the ideal 'Mummy Blogging' post should consist of. In fact, as I sat in my work meeting today (absolutely 100% concentrating on what was being discussed. Your honour.), it occurred to me that I reckoned I could have a pretty good stab at writing The Ultimate Mummy Blog Post. And so here is. Tongue firmly in cheek... enjoy.
The Ultimate Mummy Blog Post
Hi everyone! I'm sorry it's been so long since I last posted! We've been all tied up with Daniel, who's just had his eczema diagnosis confirmed, and then darling Octavia came down with the chicken pox so we've had spots from wall to wall! Thankfully she's now recovered, see photos of them both doing such HILARIOUS things below:
[insert 'hilarious' photo of small children, ideally taken either slightly out of focus or in an 'arty' manner]
Anyways, back to business, and how are YOU all doing? Who's getting ready for the Next Big Blogging Conference? I'm going and I cannot WAIT to meet all you lovely people! I'm really nervous, I hope you don't all hate my outfit/shoes/face!
I've been busy on Twitter recently, if you haven't already then make sure you get over there and say hello to me @desperatelykeenmummyblogger! I always follow back!
Onto other things, and the lovely @i'madesperatelykeenmummybloggertoo has nominated me for an award! It's the Award For Being a Desperately Keen Mummy Blogger! Isn't that just amazing! The rules of the award are that you have to pass it on to 5 other Desperately Keen Mummy Bloggers, and tell us something OUTRAGEOUS about you. My outrageous fact is that I once wore - oh god, I can't believe I'm telling you this - a non matching bra and pants! Worse still - I was in labour! Can you imagine what those midwives must have said about me?! I nominate @i'mmummyblogging, @i'mstillmummyblogging, @i'malsomummyblogging, @i'mdaddybloggingbecauseweneedsexualequality and @i'mmumbloggingcosI'mabittrendierthantherestofyou for this award! Make sure you reply AND LINK BACK TO MY BLOG! Love you all!
Finally, I've got a bit of a competition/linky mash up for you this week! To enter, just use the linky below to link to your blog post all about the reasons you love being a mummy. I'll then pick one lucky entrant who gets to write a guest post for this blog! It's all just a bit of fun ... obviously MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE RULES EXACTLY TO THE LETTER. Haha! Just joking! (But do. Obviously. You don't want to ruin it for anyone else, do you?)
That's it from me for now - I've got to go and sort out the chaos I can hear from the next room where Dan is covering Octavia in Sudocrem! I know! They're so crazy! Photos to follow!
Love you all xxx
